Genuinely Natural Beauty

How do you know that you’re getting what it says on the pack?

The beauty of natural organic skin and makeup products is that they don’t just smell and feel wonderful, but nature’s own powerful ingredients really can be truly effective.  So it is a real shame that there are some companies that call their products ‘natural’ when they only contain the faintest amount of one natural ingredient (regardless of the rest of the content).

That is why there are a number of certifications that the most legitimate natural and organic beauty companies are accredited by so that you can be confident that you are purchasing products which are packed with the best natural and organic ingredients possible.

Here is a list of the certifications that you should look out for:

Soil Association
The UK’s largest organic certification body, responsible for certifying over 80% of all organic products sold in the country (food, textiles and beauty)

EcoCert
Ecocert provides one of the most respected and internationally recognised certification standards for organic and natural beauty products in the world

NaTrue
The NaTrue label is a guarantee that the product you buy is as natural as it can be, recognised worldwide

USDA
The organic seal issued by the United States Department of Agriculture.

BDIH
The German certification for natural cosmetics (Bundesverband Deutscher Industrie und Handelsunternehmen).

OFC
Australia’s fastest growing organic certification body.

Australian Government Certified
Introduced by the Australian Quarantine and Inspection Service.

Cosmos
A relatively new organic standard which represents five of the major accreditations currently operating across Europe, in order to agree one unified European certification

OFF
The Organic Food Federation is a UK body responsible for certifying organic producers and offers a ‘non-food’ category

And for those with an interest in animal welfare, there is also:

The Vegan Society
The Vegan logo is a registered trademark and a symbol of the Vegan ‘Animal-free’ Standards.

The Vegetarian Society
The Vegetarian Society Seeding Symbol is the only legally registered trademark for vegetarian accreditation.

BUAV
The British Union for the Abolition of Vivisection has worked with other organisations, such as the Coalition for Consumer Information on Cosmetics (CCIC) to develop the Humane Cosmetics Standard (HCS) and the Leaping Bunny logo which provides the best assurance that no animal testing is used in any phase of product development by the company, its laboratories, or suppliers .
